Self-Regulation and Social Thinking

This group program uses concepts from the Zones of Regulation (Leah Kuypers), the Incredible 5 Point Scale (Dunn Buron) , and the Social Thinking curriculum (Michelle Garcia Winner). The majority of the children have participated in individual OT treatment sessions where specific challenges have been identified and strategies have been introduced. The group allows participants to generalize new skills to support interaction with peers and allows group leaders to identify social situations where challenges may be triggered. Group leaders can then further identify the best use of sensory-motor, cognitive behaviour, and social thinking tools that can support participants to regulate their emotions and arousal levels and address social issues.
