AVISHAG KOFMAN
Occupational Therapy Assistant, Behavioural Support Provider and Client Care Coordinator
Avishag graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Bachelor of Arts degree, majoring in Disability Studies. Avishag started working as a Behaviour Therapist following graduation, where she was supporting clients with autism and other behavioural and learning needs, using evidence-based strategies to promote skill development and independence.
Avishag started to Volunteer at Ellen Yack and Associates in October of 2023 shadowing registered occupational therapists during weekly client sessions and gaining hands-on exposure to therapeutic interventions. Avishag developed knowledge in treatment approaches focusing on emotional and arousal regulation, sensory processing and integration, gross and fine motor skill development, and play-based engagement.
Avishag serves as a Social Group Facilitator, leading monthly groups for individuals aged 12–27 with intellectual disabilities. She supports participants in developing social skills, enhancing communication, and navigating group dynamics in real-life settings.
Avishag recently completed her fifth summer at Camp Walt Whitman, a co-ed overnight camp in New Hampshire where she worked as an Age Group Supervisor, responsible for the care and experience of 35 adolescent campers and the management of a team of 10 staff.
In her free time she loves travelling, playing tennis, and cooking.
