HASHINA ASRAVI
Occupational Therapy Assistant
I am an internationally trained Occupational Therapist who graduated from India, with extensive experience working with the pediatric population. I am currently based in Canada and actively pursuing my licensing process to practice as a registered occupational therapist.
I have several years of experience supporting children and adolescents with diverse needs, including autism spectrum disorder (ASD), ADHD, Down syndrome, and learning disabilities. I have worked in both clinical and home-based settings, providing individualized, client-centered care focused on improving functional independence, sensory regulation, and motor development. I have a strong passion for working with children and am especially dedicated to supporting autistic clients through meaningful, play-based, and engaging therapeutic approaches.
Since October 2023, I have been volunteering at Ellen Yack and Associates, where I shadow registered occupational therapists and have gained hands-on experience with standardized assessments such as the McMaster Handwriting Assessment, BOT-2, and Beery VMI. This experience has strengthened my understanding of sensory integration, emotional regulation, and developmental, play-based therapy approaches.
My practice is client-centered, strengths-based, and grounded in sensory integration principles. I strive to create a warm, supportive, and engaging therapeutic environment that promotes regulation, participation, and confidence in children. I am committed to ongoing learning, mentorship, and reflective practice, and I aim to support children and families through a holistic and culturally responsive approach.
