Sherri Taylor is a Senior Therapy Assistant with over 30 years of experience providing neurodiversity-affirming support to neurodivergent children, youth, adults, and their families. She has worked extensively in school, clinical, and community settings, including over a decade with the York Region District School Board as an Intervention Support Worker, in occupational therapy clinics as a Family Care Coordinator and occupational therapy assistant, and in adult services. She also supports families with advocacy related to school placement, Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and navigating funding resources.

As a strong ally and advocate for the autistic community, Sherri was selected to collaborate with clinicians, the Ontario Ministry, and individuals with lived experience to help inform the development of the Ontario Autism Program, supporting the inclusion of occupational therapy and mental health services to meet a wide range of needs.

Sherri is a Registered Early Childhood Educator (RECE), Certified Spelling to Communicate (S2C) Practitioner, and Leadership and Faculty Member with the International Association for Spelling as Communication (I-ASC). She has developed extensive knowledge in play-based learning, supporting emotional and arousal regulation, sensory integration, and purposeful motor skill development. She supports individuals, in collaboration with clinical teams, in developing greater motor control and regulation, and in accessing more reliable forms of communication. Her work is guided by a deep commitment to ensuring individuals have access, agency, and autonomy. She strives to create supportive environments that empower individuals to build independence, strengthen self-advocacy, and participate meaningfully in their daily lives.
